The Technical Support Specialist Act as first level escalation support for Local Site Supervisor / Technician teams. Remotely troubleshoot, guide repair of all hardware or controls systems in the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Appropriately escalate and engage 3rd party vendors as required.

  • Facilitate Root Cause Failure Analysis and implement process improvements / recommendations / training materials to avoid future incidents

  • Understand and troubleshoot material handling systems, including Barcode Scanners, Print and Apply

  • Applicators, WCS (BOSS / MC4 Controllers), VFD, electrical distributions systems, industrial networks and communications systems installed Vendor

  • Identify, maintain and troubleshoot and fully program Industrial Barcode Scanners (SICK)

  • Identify, maintain and troubleshoot and fully program Print and Apply Applicators (IDT)

  • Identify, maintain, troubleshoot and modify Motor Controls including motor starters,VFD's, DC Drives and standard electrical components

  • Identify, maintain and troubleshoot HMI / WCS Components

  • Understand and troubleshoot Warehouse Management System (WMS) software concepts and messaging protocols

  • Understand and troubleshoot industrial networks and communications protocols installed by Vendor

Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3 phase, 110V AC, 24V DC systems

  • Interpret and communicate mechanical and electrical schematics

  • Apply subject matter expertise in Scanners / Print and Apply / WSC / Electrical Distribution Systems to maximize building uptime and utilization

  • Communicate clearly and effectively, relating to technical issues with internal team and external client

Audit / analyze data to assess current trends and optimize solutions

  • Communicate and share findings in periodic reporting

  • Support / facilitate onsite training as required

  • Engage / support local teams to assess system performance and make optimization recommendations

  • Strong analytical, organizational and communications skills. Ability to manage multiple sites or incidents


  • High School diploma or GED is required

  • 5+ yrs Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience required

  • 5+ yrs Electrical troubleshooting and repair experience required

  • MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Must have excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Must have good organizational and time management skills

  • Must have PLC programming and diagnostic proficiency with one type of PLC

  • Must be proficient with MS Office products and Operating Systems (i.e. Windows XP)

  • Must have a strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical aptitude and experience

  • Ability to travel 50% of time or more to visit and troubleshoot systems in customer’s locations


  • Material handling experience in Conveyor, sortation, palletizers, and robotics is a plus

  • Controls Troubleshooting experience a plus

  • Networking Troubleshooting experience a plus
