Cloud Solutions Consultant

As a Principal Engineer you will be responsible for providing cloud resources and systems automation solutions as part of an agile team to deliver and support complex cloud hosted solutions. You will use your proven experience implementing and maintaining complex cloud automation and continuous deployment solutions in partnership with the HPS software engineering teams to deliver cloud-based solutions for the next generation of HPS products.

You will be working with solutions consultants to identify secure and cost-effective deployment strategies for customers and will help deliver the cloud offerings. You will be acting as a single point of contact for delivering deployment strategies, including the definition of Disaster recovery, business continuity and data retention plans for HCP cloud offerings.

Responsibilities of Position

Work with the technology solution consultants on potential opportunities and help define an ideal deployment solution for HCP cloud offerings

Work with the Infra ops team in ensuring the proper delivery of the defined deployment architecture

Create, own and communicate the deployment architecture for our customers

Partner with the Technology Solution Consultant & project teams on timely delivery of RFI & RFQ.

Partner with HCP marketing teams to define generic content on Cloud strategies.

Work hand-in-hand with the product engineering teams to setup and maintain multiple implementation environments

Create, Implement, and Maintain automation to support continuous integration and continuous delivery processes to drive speed and efficiency

Implement and maintain proactive logging and monitoring solutions for infrastructure and applications

Develop reporting for the operational metrics necessary for capacity planning and SLA reporting

Manage the resolution of cases with external cloud support vendors for issues that are in their purview

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Previous experience operating high-uptime environments on a major cloud provider such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, or Google GCP

Expertise in Kubernetes and container Delivery models to support CI/CD and production processes

A strong background in systems engineering with an automation focus

Coding skills in interpreted languages and shell-based scripting technologies required. Background in Powershell, Perl, Python, and/or Javascript preferred.

Previous experience designing, implementing, and maintaining one of the industry standard configuration managements stacks. (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform)

Core understanding of monitoring and logging principles and previous experience with Splunk or ELK

Strong technical understanding of networking and internet technologies including DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, load-balancing, and routing

Strong knowledge and commitment to delivering security configurations as part of all solutions

Excellent teaming and interpersonal skills.

Ability to present technical solutions in front of customers and win their confidence

Working knowledge of Agile development practices and concepts

Results oriented with the ability to work with minimal supervision

Strong analytical / problem solving skills.

30 Cloud Migrations – on premise data center to cloud

20 Systems Engineering on larger scale

20 Experience in pre-sales or sales support

20 Work with the internal team to ensure deployment

10 Good communication – dealing with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements:

10+ years of software development, IT operations experience

Minimum of 3-5 years working with cloud automation and software delivery

Significant scripting and coding background

BS degree preferredExempt Performance Materials and Technologies
