Sr Technical Manager, Aero Altitude Test Organization
This is an excellent opportunity for a experienced manager with strong background in Engineering Test Management - with effective Best Practice and Process Acumen background to join Honeywell's Aerospace Team.
The Sr Test Manager position within Engines and Power Systems, Test Services is responsible, either directly or indirectly, for all Aerodynamic, Altitude and Component Testing activities. This includes managing a staff of Engineers, Technicians and other support staff. The functions of this position include: manage/oversee test facility, maintenance, design, construction and program management, Energy systems evaluation and services such as Quotes/Estimates, Statements of Work, Print validation & Configuration Management, work planning, and vendor rationalization. The Sr Technical manager position is also accountable for managing an annual department expense budget and approved capital improvement budgets annually.
Skills - We are seeking candidates with demonstrated technical ability, broad expertise in laboratory test equipment technologies, processes and strong leadership skills. Ideal candidates will have:

Related test laboratory management experience
Strong use of a Management Operating System (MOS) linked to customer satisfaction and goals. Positive, proactive, and passionate with demonstrated leadership skills in influencing, driving change, and motivating & developing people
Proven ability to set the tactical direction by aligning resources (people, facilities, equipment) to meet near term customer needs and concurrently develop longer term strategies to be in alignment with future business demands
A bias for action in developing and implementing improvement plans to increase test yield, reduce test set-up times, reduce no fault found test rejects
Program/project management skills and experience in using Lean and Six Sigma tools
Excellent teaming skills as leader, member, facilitator, and coach to build bench strength/depth
Demonstrated effective communication skills in order to build a customer service mindset among direct reports
Effective listening skills and capable of resolving conflicts quickly with win-win solutions/outcomes. Ability to provide direct feedback & handle performance problems quickly
Ability to utilize resources outside span of control; ability to work in a highly matrixed organization
You Must Have:
Bachelor's degrees in an engineering discipline
10 yrs Engineering/Business experience
5 years experience managing a large group of technical professionals and/or technical professionals and technicians
At least 2 years of mechanical engineering test experience
Must have experience managing a departmental budget and/or a capital projects.
Due to export requirements, must be a US Citizen or Legal U.S. Permanent Resident Alien (Green Card Holder)
Knowledgeable with laboratory testing technologies and test equipment
Six Sigma (Green Belt) Certified
Significant experience implementing a PMO and/or implementing PM Operating Systems. Skilled change agent.
Significant experience successfully managing virtual teams.
Very strong process orientation
Excellent soft skills and management skills
Very strong PM background in an environment with a high degree of PM discipline
Ability to effectively influence others, strong delegation abilities, good mentoring skills
Strong bias for action, high energy level, detail oriented, analytical thinker, multi-tasking. Comfortable working on many projects at the same time. "Get it done" mindset.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal & communication skills are keys to success. Must be able to be a driver while maintaining strong collaborative relationships and clear roles and responsibilities with team members and stakeholders.
