The Payroll Specialist supports the entire payroll processing cycle and is a vital part of our team. Summary of Duties:
Prepares and transmits payroll including inputting data for earnings, taxes (W4), garnishments, deductions and processes direct deposit
Balances payroll transaction data
Validates payroll information
Assists in preparation of W2 tax reports
Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations
Ensures employees' adherence to Labor Compliance/Time reporting policies, and answers employees' payroll and labor compliance questions.
Maintains subsidiary ledgers to support data on account balances
Compiles data for reporting and submits ad-hoc reports by deadlines
Analyzes accounting data and ensures compliance with policies/procedures, ensures payments are allowable costs under the governmental rules.
Develops and maintains detailed procedures and work instructions, implements process improvements, investigates problems and recommends corrective action.
Prepares spreadsheets and billing information
Documents and maintains internal controls
Responds to audit requests
Works on special projects and may perform other duties, such as assisting Accounts Payable, as assigned.
You Must Have:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Two (2) or more years of payroll processing work experience.
US Citizenship to be able to obtain and maintain a level Q security clearance.
Previous full-cycle payroll processing experience
Bachelor's degree in business finance discipline, to include college coursework in accounting.
4+ years in a lower level accounting position.
Ability to work well in an inclusive, diverse organization.
Time reporting experience
Strong personal computer skills, including familiarity with PeopleSoft applications, and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) proficiency.
Experience working in a government contractor environment.
Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments and consistently meet deadlines.
Outstanding interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing).
